MINUTES OF A MEETING OF ESSENDON PARISH COUNCIL HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL
ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 13TH 2010
PRESENT:- Ian Screech (Chair), Margaret Titchner, Mike Brown, Alan Steele,
Joan Thomson and Keith Venables and John Spragg (Clerk).
1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE were received from District Councillor Bernard Sarson.
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES. The minutes of the meeting held on 28/6/10 were
approved and signed.
3. MATTERS ARISING. a. Village sign.
It was agreed to submit our grant request for £1900.
The clerk had established that Highways would decide on
our application. The site would be discussed further at
7.00 pm on 14/9 outside Essendon House.
b. East View garages.
Following the visit on 8/7 by Carol Simpson (Community and
Environmental officer) several matters raised had already
been addressed.
c. Website.
Following Olly Lappage's move from the village, it was hoped
that Simon Phillips would take over in due course.
4. MATTERS RAISED BY THE PUBLIC. NIL.
5. ESSENDON ROAD ACTION GROUP. Margaret Titchner reported that she was
trying to obtain figures on the speeding checks carried out.
The police would be issuing a news sheet which, if
applicable, could be put on our website and notice boards.
6 PLANNING MATTERS. a. Mulberry House ref. S6/2010/1173 had been approved.
b.Haydon Cottage. The clerk was asked to obtain assurance
from the Planners that the recent extension complied with
plans submitted some time ago.
It was agreed to continue to obtain paper copies of planning
applications until further notice.
7. CORRESPONDENCE. a. Herts. County Council. The future of Hertfordshire waste.
Traffic and Transport data report 2009.
b. Welwyn Hatfield Council. Licensing act. Consultation.
Community Engagement seminar. 26/3/10. Report.

Agreed to continue membership at £30.

9. OTHER BUSINESS. a. Bank. Clerk was preparing new mandate and signatories.
b. Standing Orders for Councils. Copy requested. (£15)
c. Schapps visit.
The recent visit of the MP to the school when he
announced new housing initiatives was discussed.
It was felt that he had been poorly advised in that the
Parish Council were not contacted.
Joan Thomson stressed that it was important that Alan
Steele's communications with the MP were clearly seen
as personal or on behalf of the Essendon Society.
