There is a postbox next to the phone box in School Lane. Last collection: Mon - Fri 4.15pm, Saturdays 12:00pm
Rubbish and Recycling
General rubbish is collected on Friday mornings. Brown wheelie bin collections alternate with red and green boxes on Wednesday mornings.
NB: On weeks with a bank holiday, both recycling and landfill waste are collected a day late (Thursday and Saturday respectively).
Boxes and wheelie bins are provided free of charge by the council for recycling (a charge is levvied for replacement wheelie bins). Currently the following items are recyclable:
Glass bottles and jars (not broken glass, window glass, drinking glasses or pyrex) and tins - Red boxes
Paper (newspapers, magazines, junk mail and directories but NOT envelopes, cardboard, yellow pages or shredded paper) - Green boxes
Garden and household vegetable waste (not soil or turf) and cardboard - Brown wheelie bins
Landfill (general household waste) and recyclable items are collected on different schedules in Essendon depending on the street. This link to the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council website has up to date schedue information, as well as an online service to report missed bins.
