There are THREE wheelie bins provided:
BROWN for garden waste (additional charge £35 per annum)
BLUE LIDDED for plastic, cardboard, glass and an insert for paper
BLACK BIN for landfill/general waste.
Collections are on alternate Mondays:
One week for BROWN/BLUE recycling
The following week for BLACK BIN landfill
NB: On weeks with a bank holiday, both recycling and landfill waste are collected according to holiday schedules
All bins must be placed at the front of the property on collection days or they will not be emptied
Boxes and wheelie bins are provided free of charge by the council for recycling (a charge is levied for replacement wheelie bins).

The closest recycling centre (which also accepts landfill waste) is at Cole green on the A414. This link to Wasteaware has more information. The Hatfield Great North Road Tesco site also has recycling facilities for paper, cans and clothes.
